Funding of Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) is met from the funds allocated to states through grants released under Article 275 (1) of the Constitution of India; such funds are allocated state-wise based on the ST population in each state. Under the programme, an amount of Rs 387.00 lakh has been allocate to the state of Kerala during 2009-10. The State Government of Kerala has submitted proposals under the programme during 2009-10, including proposal for setting up of EMRS with an assistance of Rs 759.77 lakh. The priority for taking up projects rests with the state government. An amount of Rs 134.92 lakh has already been released during the current year out of the allocation of Rs. 387.00 lakh made to the state under the programme. Hence, it may not be possible to release funds for EMRS during the current year.
